Mike Muscala – Brooklyn Nets

The deal that brought Mike Muscala to the Celtics at the 2023 NBA Trade Deadline was a great one. With the Celtics needing center depth, Muscala was a solid acquisition, although he did not play much, especially in the playoffs. The center has a $3.5 million club option for next season that the team must decide what to do with before June 29. If the Boston Celtics let Muscala go, which is on the table, the Brooklyn Nets would make sense as a suitor.

One of Brooklyn’s top priorities this off-season should be finding a backup center. Muscala would be a solid choice, giving the young Nets a veteran center who has no shortage of experience. On the floor, the 31-year-old’s strongest attribute is his 3-point shooting, having shot 37.9 percent from deep in his career. At six-foot-11, that’s pretty impressive, and it would make him a good fit with the Nets, whose perimeter shooting fell flat in the NBA Playoffs.

If he hits the market, Muscala would not command a hefty deal from any suitor. The Nets could likely pick him up for close to the minimum, which would be a great move for them.
