Boston Celtics player who could get axed from playoff rotation No. 2: Sam Hauser

Sam Hauser has averaged over 15 minutes per game in the month of March, and he’s rewarded the Celtics with 45% 3-point shooting on over four attempts from the field on average during those contests.

While his younger brother Joey Hauser was a major factor for Michigan State during the Spartans’ Sweet 16 run during the 2023 March Madness tournament, Sam Hauser isn’t likely to get many minutes for the Cs.

The primary reason? Hauser plays the position the two best players on the team also happen to play. With Tatum and Brown expected to clear 40 minutes per game, with that number likely to get as close to possible to 48 minutes per game, Hauser is likely to get spot minutes, at most, in situations the team is struggling from beyond the arc.

Another reason Hauser is likely to be bumped from the rotation is because Mazzulla could play guards like White and Brogdon up a position to ensure his best players are playing the majority of the time. With Grant Williams also capable of playing minutes at the 3 in bigger lineups, Hauser has no direct path to minutes when the rotation shrinks to eight as the stakes are raised during the postseason.
