Reason No. 3 Blake Griffin is a fantastic signing for the Boston Celtics: Experience

While he doesn’t have any championships, Blake Griffin can still bring great playoff experience to the Boston Celtics. In 9 of his 12 NBA seasons, Griffin played playoff games and played relatively well each time he played in the playoffs.

Even in last year’s playoffs when Griffin didn’t play much for the Nets, the 33-year-old showed flashes of brilliance, hitting three pointers and making hustle plays. Due to a lack of playtime, the veteran seemingly got winded relatively quickly, but he still proved to NBA fans he was capable of taking on a limited role for a top-tier NBA team and fully embracing it to maximize his game and help the team win.

The Celtics shouldn’t ask Blake Griffin to be an all-star or even have a somewhat resurgent season, as all they need him to do is be willing to play within himself and make winning plays. Given Blake Griffin has zero championships despite many playoff appearances, it seems like it will be easy to motivate him to help out the team the best way he can at this point in his career.

That means providing a veteran presence for the less experienced players, and playing inspiring basketball as he did in the playoffs against the Celtics in limited minutes. Hopefully, Griffin is the first of many veteran ring chasers that decide to come to the Boston Celtics in the coming seasons.
