Despite their copious amounts of triumphs over the last several months what with their recent NBA Finals appearance and numerous high-value additions made to the roster, when it comes to the Boston Celtics all news cycles can seemingly talk about is the Kevin Durant situation and how the ball club could be a realistic landing spot for him in the event that he’s traded.

Ever since word broke about how the megastar wing requested out of Brooklyn back in late June, outlets and media pundits have been nonstop with their coverage of the situation, discussing where the 33-year-old’s preferred destinations are and what teams could potentially offer up in a hypothetical blockbuster.

Throughout this time, the C’s have been at the forefront of these types of discussions, with many believing that they would have the best package to send Brooklyn’s way should they actually be invested in such a pursuit.

Of course, this was due to the assumption that, in such an exchange, Jaylen Brown would be the headlining talent heading borough bound, thus allowing the Nets to stay competitive in the meantime but, mainly, establishing their foundation for the future.

Initially, however, it appears as though Sean Marks and co. never received this memo, for Adam Himmelsbach of the Boston Globe stated a league source has reported that Brooklyn not only tried to snag Brown in a deal but, also, his All-Star running mate, Jayson Tatum.

"According to the source, Brooklyn initially tried to pry both Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown from Boston. That proposal went nowhere, of course. The source confirmed recent reports that Brooklyn later shifted its focus to a deal centered on Brown, Marcus Smart, and a massive haul of future first-round draft picks. But the Celtics were not interested."

Frankly, this concept is so wrong on a multitude of levels.

First and foremost, it is the belief of many that offloading Brown in a deal for Kevin Durant would already be a bit too much for the Boston Celtics to consider giving up, for he’s seven years younger and has nowhere near the type of injury history that the Nets star possesses.

However, on top of this, Marks tried to go a step further by inserting Tatum, a legitimate superstar at just 24 years old, into the mix alongside his star cohort.

Now, yes, we of course understand that as a rival executive forced into a situation where his star player wants out, it makes sense that Marks would be shooting for the stars with his initial trade negotiations in hopes of grabbing the best deal possible.

From a completely objective standpoint, this is by no means shocking.

That said, if we wish to be subjective on the matter, this is one of the most ridiculous ideas the Boston Celtics have likely heard in a long time.

Sure, Durant is in fact coming off one of the greatest individual seasons of his illustrious career, finishing with dominating averages of 29.9 points, 7.4 rebounds, 6.4 assists, and just shy of a block per game on 52 percent shooting from the floor and 38 percent shooting from distance.

However, Tatum and Brown together just managed to guide the C’s to their first Finals berth in over a decade and came within just two wins of bringing home the club’s 18th championship banner.

After an offseason of retooling and revamping their rotation, the team is now heading towards 2022-23 as the favorites to take home the Larry O’Brien Trophy.

The Nets with KD onboard? They don’t even crack the top 5.

To us at HH, it’s as simple as this: with Durant in tow, the Boston Celtics could wind up winning a title right away, but with the Jays they could wind up proving to be the league’s next great dynasty.

Trading away Brown for Durant is already viewed by many as a wild concept.

Adding Tatum to the equation, as sources say Brooklyn was gunning for in initial talks? Borderline psychotic!

Next. 2 former first-round picks could realistically make C's roster. dark
