Boston Celtics unsung stud No. 1) Payton Pritchard

After essentially serving as a non-factor in Sunday’s Game 1, seeing less than nine minutes on the day while only taking one attempt from the field (though, for the record, he did make it), Payton Pritchard was called upon to take on a rather sizeable role within Game 2’s rotation and, like he has all season, the point guard delivered.

As we stated earlier, the Brooklyn Nets held on to their lead for the overwhelming majority of Wednesday’s exhibition, only to see it start to dwindle late in the third and then lose it for good in the fourth.

The second-year pro was a major reason for why this happened.

Frankly, one could make the argument that the eight minutes he logged in the fourth quarter alone (finished 15:31 overall) turned the game around for the C’s, as he was directly responsible for six of the team’s first nine points of the period that wound up giving them the lead.

From this point on, they never squandered it.

His steady shooting stroke, swift handles, and all-out hustle during the final stretch simply dazzled all in attendance at TD Garden and visibly shifted the mindset of Boston from being a team looking to claw their way back into the contest to one that was confident that they could pull out the W.

During his time on the court, Pritchard put up 10 points, four boards, and an assist on an incredibly efficient 71 percent shooting from the floor while registering the best plus-minus rating of the entire game at +15.

Moving forward in this series, the Boston Celtics are going to need more of the same brand of energy and production from the fan-favorite sophomore.

His play in Game 2 was a joyous sight to see!
