Boston Celtics unsung stud No. 2) Al Horford

Unlike Payton Pritchard, Al Horford was, indeed, a major part of Ime Udoka’s Game 1 rotation and game plan, as he finished the outing with a stellar overall stat-line of 20 points, 15 rebounds, and two assists whilst shooting 8-for-13 from the field.

However, similar to Pritchard, the big man was also a major contributor to the C’s Game 2 comeback.

With every passing day, it becomes more and more evident that the offseason trade for Big Al was an incredible move for Brad Stevens to have made, for he’s constantly served as one of the team’s most valuable commodities thanks to his play and veteran leadership–both attributes served as major factors in Boston’s historic midseason turnaround during the regular season.

Wednesday night seemingly saw more of the same from the seasoned big man, and we mean this in the best way possible.

Seeing the second-most minutes on the team at 41:29, Horford went about and served as somewhat of a Swiss Army man for the club. From scoring to passing, leading the charge on a fast break to getting back on defense, the 35-year-old did just about anything and everything he could to help the shamrocks secure win No. 2.

Though the former All-Star did foul out down the stretch, it was during a time where the game was rather safe, as the Boston Celtics had nearly a double-digit advantage and momentum on their side with less than three minutes to go in the fourth.

The big man finished the night with an impressive log of 16 points, six boards, two assists, two steals, and a block on 60 percent shooting from the floor and 50 percent shooting from deep.

All season long, Al Horford has proven to be the heart and soul of this lethal C’s team, right alongside the likes of Marcus Smart.

Lucky for them (and us) his passion, play, and production have carried on over through the first two games of this year’s postseason.

Let’s hope it continues to last.
