Boston Celtics positive trend No. 3) 3-point shooting from Jayson Tatum

Ultimately, the Boston Celtics will likely go as far as their two star wings, Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum, will bring them and, while the former actually saw himself get off to a rather efficient start, the latter struggled tremendously to find his groove early on in the year, particularly when it came to his shooting stroke, thus leading to quite an upsetting win-loss turnout right from the jump.

Though the budding superstar has established himself as being an impressive all-around player, his five-year, $195 million contract extension that he inked prior to last season was earned in large because of his unbelievable scoring abilities.

That said, through the early stages of this year’s campaign, the fifth-year stud found himself severely struggling to efficiently knock down his shots, especially when shooting from long-range where, prior to 2021-22, he’d been boasting nearly a 40 percent shooting clip.

Now, while Tatum does find himself supporting a career-high scoring average of 26.5 points per game, he’s doing so whilst sporting career-low shooting averages of 44 percent from the floor and an even worse 33 percent shooting from deep.

Having said that, during their post-All-Star stretch where they’ve won all but one contest, have ranked as the tenth highest-scoring team, and rank as the fifth-best team in terms of Offensive Rating and a major reason for why has been the seemingly resurfaced scoring touch by the C’s franchise cornerstone.

Since the passing of the illustrious weekend, Tatum has found himself putting on an absolute clinic, boasting averages of 34 points, seven boards, and 4.7 assists on 47 percent shooting from the floor and 37 percent shooting from deep while also seeing a dominating 54 point performance on a stupendous 53 percent shooting from deep to help guide Boston past Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving and the Brooklyn Nets.

Since even prior to the All-Star break, the wing was seemingly starting to turn a corner on his shooting slump and, over the last eight games, is shooting at a 38 percent clip from deep.

During this stretch, Boston is 6-2 and has absolutely annihilated a few of their opponents which includes a 48 point drubbing over their divisional rival and current conference superior, the Philadelphia 76ers.

As we stated earlier, this C’s team will only go as far as Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum will take them and, should the second half of this aforementioned Jay squad continue on with his recent 3-point shooting performances, the sky could realistically be the limit for the ball club.
