Why Boston Celtics wouldn’t trade for AD No. 2) Health struggles

The Boston Celtics have lighting in a bottle right now with this current young core which includes the likes of Jaylen Brown, Marcus Smart, and even the hopes of what Aaron Nesmith could eventually become.

Trading this all away for a historically injury-prone power forward in Anthony Davis is not any type of step forward.

Where is the big man now? Certainly not playing on a basketball court as he is slated to miss another calendar month with a mild foot sprain.

This is just the latest string in an enormous line of an injury history that AD is building.

Last season the big man just played in half of an already NBA-shortened, COVID plagued year.

In the 2020-21 campaign he missed the longest stretch of his basketball tenure, being sidelined for 30 games with right calf and heel injuries.

If these ailments were stories of the past then they would not be noteworthy. Unfortunately for him, this is a narrative that has been painted throughout Davis’ career: the fact he is injury prone and generally as fragile as a glass vase.

Also, in his last year for the New Orleans Pelicans, he was out largely due to personal reasons.

Much can be said about his messy exit from NOLA and how unprofessional it was to only play 56 games in his final year there simply because he was forcing his way to LA.

The man is not physically with it nor does he have the mental toughness to be a good Celtic.
