The Boston Celtics tied a franchise record this February, as they went 9-2 through 11 total games, giving them a winning percentage of 81.8.
Boston and Miami both had the same winning percentage, which ties them for second in this category behind only the Utah Jazz who had a winning percentage of .889, but they played two fewer games.
A major stat to pull from February is their plus-minus rating.
On the month, the C’s had the best plus-minus differential in the entire association with a +157. They were so dominant, in fact, that the difference between first and second was the same distance between second and seventh (42 point differential).
Obviously, the offense was producing in order to have such a great plus-minus difference, but as we’ve all been raving about the past month, and, frankly, all season, it was the defense that really propelled their history tying February.
Their defensive rating was the best in the NBA with a 101.4 and opponents only shot 40.3 percent from the field which was also a league-leading statistic.
This is another statistic that blew the top off the charts, with the difference from one to two being the same distance as two to 24th.
The Boston Celtics really turned up their defense in February and it’s a promising sight to see for fans everywhere.
Their offensive rating was ranked eighth in the entire league (116.5) but because of their sturdy defense, their net rating was the best at 15.1.
Thanks to this February surge, Boston jumped from ninth place in the East all the way up to sixth. Sitting at 37-27 now, Boston is only half a game out of fifth place and one game out of fourth.
The shamrocks have a tough schedule ahead of them in March, but they look to ride the momentum from last month and jump further up in the Eastern Conference standings.
Technically, Boston has a winning record in March (1-0) due to their win against Atlanta, so we’re off to a good start!
