Though they may have tried to make proper adjustments this past summer to fix some of their most glaring issues found within the rotation, through 38 games played in 2021-22 the Boston Celtics find themselves running into the same problems that plagued their 2020-21 campaign.

From constant shooting woes from role players to lackluster offensive production off the pine, the shamrocks have dug themselves into a rather deep hole with their play thus far into the season and, if they don’t look to make moves soon they could wind up enduring a similar fate to the one they saw last year — an early ticket home.

Luckily, however, we still have plenty of time for Brad Stevens and co. to step into action and make necessary shakeups which, in turn, has gotten fans and media outlets alike busy by concocting schemes that they believe could ultimately save the C’s season from totally collapsing upon itself.

Just recently, in fact, the folks at Bleacher Report put together a piece discussing 3 talents that they think should be at the top of Boston’s trade wish list.

With this, it inspired us at the Houdini to push out yet another installment of our favorite series we call “Pass or Pursue”, where we discuss whether or not the Boston Celtics should sit out on going after a specific player or if they should actively try to acquire them.

So, without further adieu, let’s get started:

Boston Celtics trade target No. 1) Terrence Ross

For quite some time now, we at HH have been shouting from the rooftops about how badly we wish to see the Boston Celtics make a trade for Terrence Ross.

Citing his well-documented track record of being a tremendous scoring punch off the pine, we’ve been begging to see the veteran wing come aboard and help compliment the second unit offense while also giving the likes of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown a quality replacement option during a contest when they need to take a well-deserved breather.

To no surprise, the concept of Ross heading to the Celtics seems to be becoming more popular and, in B/R’s trade targets list, writer, Zach Buckley, states that such an acquisition could certainly help the team moving forward:

"His good stretches are too hot to touch, and his bucket binges could swing a playoff contest or three in his team’s direction. Boston’s bench has averaged the third-fewest points of any reserve unit this season. An ignitable scorer like Ross could help it rocket up the rankings."

Since 2018, Ross has found himself posting averages of 14.7 points and 3.3 rebounds on 36 percent shooting from downtown whilst predominantly coming off the pine (has only started twice during this span).

Just recently, we even saw the veteran explode for his best performance of the season, putting up 33 points, five rebounds, and snatching three steals on 58 percent shooting from the floor and 50 percent shooting from deep against these very Celtics — how’s that for a sign?!

All in all, Boston needs a boost should they wish to turn things around and Terrence Ross could be exactly what they’ve been looking for.

Verdict: Pursue
