Through 37 games played the Boston Celtics are a team in complete disarray as they hold a sub-.500 record of 18-19 and, with this, constantly find themselves revolving in and out of the playoff/ play-in picture.

Because of this, many are under the impression that, should they wish to turn their campaign around and make a run at a legitimate postseason push the front office must consider making some shakeups between now and year’s end, and one of the most popular means in which people believe they can accomplish this is via trade.

While some may believe Brad Stevens and co. should look into breaking up their All-Star tandem in Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown between now and February’s deadline, any smart person would say that bolstering the talent around these two is far more of a logical agenda.

Of course, when it comes to bringing on added talent via trade, a team must be willing to part ways with some of their own assets in the process. These commodities can come in many shapes and sizes ranging from simple cash considerations to active players.

When it comes to the latter type of assets, recently the folks at Bleacher Report stated that, of all those residing on the C’s roster, point guard Dennis Schroder is the one they ‘need to trade.’

While we, personally, have grown rather fond of the veteran during his current stint with the team, we understand the logic for why trading him now may be in Boston’s best interest, for he’s on an expiring one-year deal and, instead of holding onto him and risk losing him for nothing this summer they can opt to flip him now in order to secure assets that could be more of service to the franchise.

Should the Boston Celtics ultimately opt to place Schroder on the trade block we believe there will be a considerable amount of organizations inquiring about his services. In fact, we at HH believe there are 3 teams, in particular, that will almost definitely be calling up Stevens in regard to the talented combo guard:

Team that could call the Boston Celtics No. 1) Atlanta Hawks

After making it all the way to the Eastern Conference Finals last year, the Atlanta Hawks stumbled out of the gates to start 2021-22 and have yet to truly find their balance, as they find themselves dwelling in the dungeons of the conference standings in the 12th seed with a losing record of 16-19.

Though no one should be under the impression that this team needs to take part in a major overhaul when it comes to the rotation — after all, they’re still being led by the likes of All-Star guard, Trae Young, and rising star John Collins –, the team’s front office must look into adding on some extra two-way players to help improve their performance on both ends of the court, and a reunion with Dennis Schroder could prove to be a beneficial option to consider.

Not only would the veteran point guard be able to help in the scoring department, as he’s averaged 17.3 points per contest since 2016-17, but he’d also be a much-needed secondary distributor alongside Young (5.2 assists per game over the last six years) as the second-highest APG average on Atlanta is Kevin Huerter with 2.7.

On top of this, he’d be a solid add on the defensive end for a team that struggles to step out towards the perimeter and press the opposition at the point of attack.

Attached to a cost-efficient contract, there don’t appear to be many other options that could be acquired at as low of a price-tag.
