Thing Boston Celtics fans should be thankful for No. 3) Bench creators

The stats may not show the Boston Celtics bench being any better this season than they were last, but that is mostly due to injury and bench players being inserted into the starting lineup.

With guys like Jaylen Brown, Al Horford, and Robert Williams missing time, the bench has had to outdo their predicted roles.

However, once — or if — the Cs can finally get fully healthy, the league will see how good this bench can be.

Dennis Schroder could very well be in the running for Sixth Man of the Year, Josh Richardson can create for himself, and Grant Williams has turned into a very, VERY reliable shooter.

Focusing on those first two names, they are providing something the bench has lacked for far too long — players who can create for themselves.

The Boston Celtics have relied on players who base their play mostly on catch and shoot ability and rely on guys like Tatum, Brown, and Smart to create for them. However, Schroder and Richardson are plenty able to create their own shots, drive to the basket on their own initiative, and get buckets without having to lean on the gravity that Tatum and Brown create.

Come playoff time, I can guarantee this will be a major revelation, being something the Boston Celtics haven’t had since their Eastern Conference Finals run back in 2018.

As the Cs regain their health, the team should be much better offensively, because once a starter is out, it messes up the entire rhythm of the rotations.

The month of December is coming up, and the Celtics have a rough schedule, with every single match-up being against a current playoff team.

Living in Boston, we have lots to be thankful for, and the Celtics are no exception — here’s to a great remainder of the season.
