Boston Celtics dud: Jayson Tatum

For the second time this season, we see one of the C’s centerpieces falling into the dud category, with this time being 2x All-Star and All-NBA wing, Jayson Tatum.

Despite the fact that the game against the Miami Heat was an overall positive, Tatum’s production was an absolute negative, making it his second consecutive performance where he’s scored less than 15 points and shot below 30 percent from the floor.

Registering nearly 30 minutes on the game, for someone of his ilk Tatum posted an unbelievably pedestrian stat-line of 10 points, eight rebounds, two assists, and one steal on 23 percent shooting from the field.

Now yes, he did shoot rather well from distance, converting on 40 percent of his attempts from beyond the arc, but this was only on five shots, all of which were made in the fourth as Tatum went a full three quarters without logging a single point, which is absolutely unacceptable for a man of his status.

As the old saying goes, shooters shoot their way out of slumps. That said, while the 23-year-old did wind up ending on a positive not, leading all scorers in the final period of the game, this hot streak came on far too late.

Should these types of performances continue happening, ones where he shoots a putrid 3 of 13 on the night, fans would actually have the right to be concerned about their franchise player moving further into the year.
