Boston Celtics takeaway No. 3) Ime Udoka’s rotation is confusing, to say the least

Ime Udoka’s rotation through the first few games of the 2021-22 season has been far from consistent, which is very normal for a new head coach. What isn’t normal, however, is how he fails to make adjustments quickly when things aren’t working.

It wouldn’t be fair to put all the blame on Udoka, but some of the Celtics’ inability to stay consistent should fall on the head coach’s shoulders.

During Wednesday night’s game, where the team struggled at times to put the ball in the hoop, Payton Pritchard never once came into the game.

An even more puzzling decision was to keep Aaron Nesmith on the bench as well.

In fairness to Udoka, Nesmith has really struggled so far but it seems odd to keep both him and Pritchard on the bench in a game that desperately needed a spark on offense.

All this said, however, this shouldn’t be viewed as a cause to hit the panic button just yet. Udoka has only coached five games as the man in charge and he is still trying to find what works best for his team.

Although things are weird at the moment, expect Udoka and the Boston Celtics to find some consistency soon.
