Boston Celtics Takeaway No. 3) Robert Williams III could become a monster

Robert Williams III was truly outstanding during Boston’s season opener. He made all the right plays on offense and was the most important player on the defensive end.

The big man did a little bit of everything with a stat line of 16 points, 10 rebounds, three assists, five blocks, and three steals.

He was a perfect 5-5 shooting from the field and 6-8 shooting from the free-throw line, which included two clutch free throws down the stretch.

Williams’s biggest contribution came from his defense on New York’s All-Star, Julius Randle. The center shut him down for the majority of the fourth quarter and overtime, which was one of the key reasons the Celtics were able to claw their way back into the game.

The most impressive stat from the entire game was that he had only one foul in 45 minutes of action.

Having a big that can do everything as well as Robert Williams is great for any team, but to have a player that can do everything as well as he can and stay out of foul trouble is incredible.

Williams still has a lot to improve on but he has the potential to become the C’s most important player outside of the Jay’s.

He has the benefit of not having to do too much on offense but at the same time is always a threat on the lob or the offensive glass.

If he can continue to put up these productive numbers and stay healthy and out of foul trouble, he could be the anchor for Boston’s defense and help propel them towards the top of the Eastern Conference standings.
