Boston Celtics: 3 veterans Cs should invite to training camp

Potential Boston Celtics training camp invite No. 3) Isaiah Thomas
If you didn’t see this coming as soon as you clicked on the article, shame on you — after all, the man is literally the feature image for this piece.
Another day, another post discussing why the Boston Celtics should strongly consider reuniting with their former franchise player, Isaiah Thomas, and, frankly, we’re not sorry about it.
Earlier this offseason, it was rumored that the Cs were interested in the idea of signing IT to the roster for next season yet, as of this writing, nothing has materialized in this department.
Now, with training camp rapidly approaching coupled with the fact that Boston still has glaring issues within the backcourt and in the scoring department off the pine, the concept of bringing back Thomas seems to be more interesting than ever.
Last seen logging minutes with the New Orleans Pelicans after having signed a 10-day contract, the point guard went on to play in only three games with the ball club, averaging 7.7 points, 1.7 assists, and 1.3 rebounds.
Though perhaps his shooting percentages were a bit lackluster (converted on only 33 percent of his attempts), this was to be expected considering he spent the better part of the year and a half prior at home. What was impressive to see was that he was still rather crafty with his handles, quick on his feet, and explosive on the court, all of which played major roles for him during his prime.
More recently, we saw Thomas literally dominate against many NBA players, both former and current, in last month’s Crawsover Pro-Am where he dropped a whopping 81 points.
Still just 32-years-old, Thomas is looking for a way back into the league and has obviously done enough to warrant the attention from multiple front offices, most notably the Golden State Warriors who recently offered him a workout scheduled for next week.
Now yes, we know that there are quite a number of Boston Celtics fans that are simply just not interested in seeing IT back in the green and white threads (which, honestly, is rather odd), but all we’re suggesting at this point is a mere training camp invite.
Not a multi-year contract… a training camp invite.
Not a guaranteed contract… a training camp invite.
Should he not be scooped up between now and then, Brad Stevens should strongly consider extended such an offer Thomas’ way.
