Young assets for a late first

Although this may seem like a large price to pay for a late first-round pick, it solves a couple of issues for Boston.

They also get their choice of some solid prospects.

This allows the Boston Celtics to get off of Edwards’ contract, first of all, which, in turn, frees up an extra roster spot for the Cs.

That spot can be used on a veteran player in free agency. This fits into Stevens’ ideology of making the team older as a whole.

Celtics fans might hate to see Romeo Langford go, but with Aaron Nesmith on the roster plus another rookie coming in through the trade, his value to the team would decrease.

The Houston Rockets would get a slightly more established NBA player in Langford and could take a flyer on Edwards. Plus, they add a second-round pick in the deal.

Houston already has three other first-round picks aside from this one, including the 23rd pick. Giving up one in favor of a player they already have seen play at the NBA level could work out great.

The Celtics could target point guards such as Tre Mann, Daishen Nix, Sharife Cooper, and Miles McBride with this selection.
