Boston Celtics: 5 players to pursue from the Pacific Division

Free agent target from the Los Angeles Lakers: Dennis Schröder
Transitioning from the Los Angeles Clippers to the Los Angeles Lakers, a guy who’s playoff run has been the complete opposite of Reggie Jackson’s, Dennis Schröder should be one of the top targets for the Boston Celtics come free agency.
Schröder’s playoff run with the Lakers left much to be desired as he virtually disappeared when he was needed most with Anthony Davis being out.
Outside of his lack of offensive consistency, he was very valuable for the Lakers. One of the best defensive guards in basketball, Schröder was the primary ball-handler with LeBron James off the court.
He showed his defensive prowess frequently throughout the regular season while playing on the last year of his deal. After turning down a lucrative extension, Schröder will most likely hit the open market and will have teams interested. Since Kemba Walker is gone, he could be the next guy up for the Boston Celtics should they choose to pursue him.
Schröder could slide into the starting role for the Cs as they desperately need a proven guy.
With Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown on the roster, he won’t be asked to be the primary ball-handler or a main scorer. His role could be strictly as a defensive anchor, potentially alongside Marcus Smart at times, and a playmaker when he does have the ball in his hands.
It may not be the most glamorous pickup for Boston but he’ll fit in pretty easily with the team around him and could have a greater impact than people think.
