Boston Celtics Player No. 2) Evan Fournier

Evan Fournier was a trade acquisition made by Danny Ainge at the trade deadline for only two 2nd round picks.

He’s been a bit up and down, and also missed time due to COVID, but at his best, he’s been a good shooter and playmaker, two things the C’s have desperately needed help with the past few seasons.

Unfortunately, Fournier is a free agent this offseason, so it is possible he ends up being a half-a-season rental.

The case for keeping Fournier next season is as mentioned before, he provides spacing, secondary ball-handling, and provides some shot creating and scoring ability.

The case for letting Fournier go is he isn’t great defensively, and was a bit inconsistent this season.

However, I believe that his inconsistency was mainly due to having COVID, as he was a relatively consistent player during his time with the Orlando Magic.

Taking all of that into consideration, I think that Fournier’s skills could be key to a hopefully much improved bench unit next season, and he should be resigned at the right price level.

Verdict: Cs should re-sign at affordable price, or at the very least try to orchestrate a sign-and-trade.
