Fallen star target for Boston Celtics No. 1) Paul Millsap

In the past, we at the Houdini have shown our intrigue in the idea of the 4x All-Star signing with the Boston Celtics, and have cited their need for big man depth and veteran experience within the rotation as reasons for why.

Just last offseason, in fact, we deemed the big man signing with Beantown as part of a “perfect offseason” for the franchise. While he ended up just staying put with the Denver Nuggets, it was only for a one-year re-up, thus making him an impending free agent heading into the 2021 offseason.

While we’ve recently suggested that the Cs should not pursue him for the mid-level exception, we did make sure to state that, if he were willing to come to town on a veteran’s minimum deal, he’d be quite a nice grab.

On the season, despite a diminished role due to the emergence of Michael Porter Jr., Millsap has still managed to stay productive, especially on the offensive side of the ball where he’s posting 8.9 points on 49 percent shooting from the floor and 35 percent shooting from deep.

At 35-years-old, one should not expect prime Paul Millsap to re-emerge. That said, his experience playing a key role on winning teams could be worth it in itself, while his offensive abilities could be a nice addition for the rotation off the pine.
