Boston Celtics player No. 2) Luke Kornet

This year’s deadline was somewhat of a letdown for Boston Celtics fans, but the team still managed to come away from the day with a few new talents to add to the roster.

One of said talents was Luke Kornet, a fourth-year big man acquired in the Daniel Theis trade to Chicago.

Kicking off his Cs debut in tremendous fashion, the 25-year-old posted a stat-line of eight points and five boards on 60 percent shooting from the floor and 67 percent shooting from deep. In his follow-up game, he would go on to post 10 points on similar shooting splits, which had fans taking to the Twitterverse sharing “overreaction comparisons” to the likes of Dirk Nowitzki.

In the games since then, however, Kornet’s production has decreased considerably and, in turn, so has his playing time.

The concept of having a guy like him in tow heading into the postseason makes a ton of sense for, not only would his 7-2 frame fill the team’s need for size within the frontcourt, but his score-first mentality and floor spacing abilities could come in handy off the bench for their 20th ranked offensive rated second unit.

However, before they can even think about using the big come playoff time, he has to make the most of this final month of action by showing he can hustle on the boards, clog driving lanes, and hit open shots both on the perimeter (which would help this team a ton) and while inside the arc.
