Franchise-altering move No. 2) Find a replacement for Brad Stevens

Now, not all of the hypothetical moves we’ll be proposing today are ones we believe should happen but, rather, could happen.

With this in mind, the idea of the front office looking for a replacement for Brad Stevens is one we don’t necessarily want to see, but one that appears to be well within the realm of possibility at this point.

Recently, ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith went on air and begged the question as to whether or not the seventh-year head man is the right coach for the Boston Celtics:

"“I’m not advocating that the man not be a head coach, that he’s not a worthy head coach in the NBA, that he wouldn’t do a good job on a lot of different teams, because he has done a good job on Boston. But based on the personnel you have, the fact that they’re not going anywhere. It’s perceived — I interviewed Jayson Tatum on ‘SportsCenter,’ and Tatum put it on himself and the players. He said ‘It’s our job, it’s our job.’ But, the bottom line is, if you’re the coach what are you there for if you can’t peel that out of them? And, I don’t see that in Brad Stevens and I think, if things continue to go this way, Danny Ainge is going to need to move in a different direction.”"

Since this take surfaced, more and more fans and media figures alike have come out and shared their displeasures with Stevens’ job this season.

Throughout his tenure with the franchise, the 44-year-old has built up a resume that consists of six postseason trips, three Eastern Conference Finals appearances, an All-Star Game appearance, and an overall regular-season record of 343-272.

Though he may be revered as one of the best basketball minds in the league today, perhaps the front office for the Celtics may feel a change at the helm could be best for the team in the long run.
