Boston Celtics: 3 big questions heading into second half of season
By Mark Nilon
Now with the All-Star game officially over with, the Boston Celtics look to the second half of the 2020-21 season to try and get back on track and tap into the successes they found earlier on in the year.
Through 36 games played, the shamrocks boast a record of 19-17, place in as the east’s fourth seed, and won four straight games leading into the star-studded hiatus.
However, despite all this, where they currently find themselves is highly disappointing considering the expectations they came into the year with. That said, with 36 more games to be played, the team still has time to recapture that spark fans have grown accustomed to over the last several years.
The Boston Celtics still have some questions that need answering
With two days to go till the restart of the season, Boston Celtics fans find themselves with a few specific questions that will be in need of answering as we progress through the second-half schedule.
Today, we present to you 3 questions the Houdini believes need to be addressed:
Boston Celtics question No.1 ) Will Cs be players on the buyout market?
Recently, we saw the first domino to fall in regard to the buyout market with Blake Griffin parting with the Detroit Pistons and making his way to the C’s Eastern Conference foe, the Brooklyn Nets.
Like every other season, there are bound to be several other players to be bought out from their respective contracts and, in turn, look for a new place to call home.
This season, will we be seeing Boston serving as an active participant within such a market?
Realistic candidates for the chopping block include lower-level names like Wayne Ellington, Trevor Ariza, and George Hill, all of whom have been linked to the shamrocks in one way or another — especially Hill.
However, perhaps the prized jewel rumored to be a buyout candidate is Cleveland Cavaliers center, Andre Drummond, who plays a position Boston is in great need of bolstering and the Celtics have been rumored to have interest in his services.
This buyout season might not wind up being the most exciting it’s ever been, but there are quite a few names likely to be available that could be of service to Beantown at a reasonable cost.
The question is, will Danny Ainge be a serious shopper?
