Boston Celtics’ Kemba Walker trade partner #1: Indiana Pacers

The team the Cs just beat is one that showed a lot of flaws that Kemba Walker would help rectifying. Indiana lacks a classic attacking point guard that can break down a defense off of a quick first step. Malcolm Brogdon is a more cerebral and less athletic point guard, and his lack of burst was exposed by an athletic Miami backcourt in the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs down in the Lake Buena Vista bubble on Walt Disney World’s Wide World of Sports complex.

Walker proved throughout the postseason that he can thrive against bigger teams (Philadelphia) as well as more athletic teams (Toronto, Miami). His presence could take the playmaking load off of Brogdon and open up the floor more for the Pacers, who would presumably include Myles Turner in a deal with the Boston Celtics.

Boston Celtics’ Kemba Walker trade partner #2: New York Knicks

The New York Knicks have had a feel-good start to the 2020-21 season, sneaking into the postseason picture as the calendar turned…and even now into February.

Of course, this isn’t a normal season, and February is what a regular December would be in 2020-21. New York always tends to fall off at this point in the calendar if you view it through that lens.

To avoid that happening once again, the Knicks could obtain a point guard that can take over the starting role. Derrick Rose is not that.

Kemba could be, though. The Bronx-born Walker carried an inferior Charlotte Hornets team to the playoffs. The Knicks might be one big piece away from the #8 seed.
