At this point, if you think the Boston Celtics as currently constructed are a team that can legitimately contend for an NBA Championship come year’s end, you’re delusional.

Heck even the man behind the curtain, Danny Ainge, doesn’t believe they have that potential.

Now, after dropping in devastating fashion to the New Orleans Pelicans in overtime, the Cs find themselves back to a measly .500 record of 15-15 and as losers of nine of their last 15 games.

To us at the Houdini, we believe there are many moves the front office should consider making if they wish to save their rapidly sinking season. Other publications are under the same impression, including Bleacher Report, who recently proposed the idea of the shamrocks striking a deal with the OKC Thunder to bring on the likes of veteran point guard, George Hill.

B/R believes George Hill could be a great acquisition for the Boston Celtics

The exact infrastructure of the proposed deal by writer Zach Buckley reads as follows:

According to Buckley, both Hill and Trevor Ariza would be “perfect” acquisitions for the Boston Celtics, citing the team’s need for veteran experience and consistent support shooting as the main reasons for why.

"Both have double-digit scoring averages over decade-plus careers. Hill is a career 38.4 percent three-point shooter. Ariza is at 36.2 percent since 2012-13. They have 229 total playoff appearances and 181 postseason starts between them. Slot them alongside Marcus Smart, Daniel Theis and Payton Pritchard, and Boston might finally have proper support for Brown, Tatum and Kemba Walker."

For some time now, B/R has been pounding the proverbial drum to bring aboard the 34-year-old guard and, constantly, we find ourselves opposing the proposal. Though this deal also manages to achieve the want of Ainge to bring on a “shooter with size” in Ariza, we find that the idea still is not that enticing.

Yes, Boston needs shooters and experience. That said, we’d rather see them add one off of waivers — say, Isaiah Thomas — or, should they look to trade, bring on a big man who fits such a mold.

Add in the fact that they’d be giving up two young guys in Romeo Langford and Aaron Nesmith for two old guys — one of which is not even a lock to play this season — and it just makes the scenario even worse for the Cs, especially considering how well the latter has been playing of late.

Again, we here at HH believe the Boston Celtics need to make some sort of move if they wish to get their campaign back on track. That said, this proposal isn’t it.
