The Boston Celtics have been linked to many players over the past several months, and most recently B/R deemed one as their ‘ideal trade target.’

With the tip-off to the 2020-21 regular season for the Boston Celtics just one day away, fans and media alike are all trying to predict how they will fair by year’s end, and what they can do to better position themselves for banner No. 18.

It is the belief of some that, though the Cs are coming in with a plethora of talent in tow such as Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, Kemba Walker — expected back after first month of action –, and Marcus Smart, they could still use for some bolstering to the rotation to increase their chances at a title.

While names such as James Harden and John Collins have all found their way into the rumor mill as being linked to Boston, Bleacher Report is under the impression that there is one specific player that would be the team’s ideal trade target’ this year.

That man: OKC Thunder floor general, George Hill.

Such an idea of the Boston Celtics acquiring the likes of the 34-year-old point guard has been discussed by us here at the Houdini and, ultimately, we deemed it necessary for Danny Ainge to pass on the hypothetical scenario.

That said, B/R has a different understanding about the two parties joining forces, citing that he’s a better option to replace Walker than anyone currently under contract with the franchise:

"Hill would be an upgrade over Teague in the Celtics’ starting lineup if Walker misses extended time, or he can serve as a floor-spacing sixth man off the bench when the four-time All-Star returns. The Celtics could offer one of their young role players (Romeo Langford, Grant Williams, Carsen Edwards) to the rebuilding Thunder in a package for Hill."

While Hill does provide several qualities that could come in handy for Boston this season, it is our own personal belief that he actually isn’t a better option than a guy like Teague, who is two years younger, a former All-Star himself, averaged 12.5 points and 7.5 assists as a starter last year, and has already shown he’s still capable of effectively producing as he averaged 11.5 points on 100 percent shooting from downtown this preseason.

The concept of the Cs trading for George Hill is, frankly, redundant and unnecessary.
