Player who could take some of Thompson’s minutes No. 3) John Bohannon

No, we’re not saying this is the likeliest of players who could find minutes within the rotation for the Boston Celtics should Tristan Thompson miss the regular season opener, but we also can’t ignore how well John Bohannon managed to play with the Red Claws last season, and the obvious lack of depth the team has within the frontcourt.

Add in the fact that — like the reasoning we had for Tacko Fall — he may not be finding any playing time to develop this season due to the franchise pulling out of the G-League bubble. With available minutes at the position, this could actually provide some solid learning experience for a player who, if he can put the pieces together, could actually be a solid contributor in this league.

As my co-expert Andrew Hughes recently put it, the former Texas-El Paso center is an “intruiging” option that the team should consider giving a chance:

"In a small sample size, John Bohannon put up one of the all-time intriguing stat-lines. On one hand, you have the 2:1 assist-turnover ratio. In another, you have six rebounds per game in just 15 minutes of action. Here’s where it gets great: Bohannon torches nets at a 45 percent clip from the 3-point line. Oh, did the Houdini mention he stands at six-foot-eleven?"

Later going on to state that the Boston Celtics may have themselves a “unicorn on their hands”, with his size and skillset, perhaps the Boston Celtics could end up throwing the G-Leaguer some rare minutes of action on opening night should the team’s depth down low weaken with TT out.

Next. 2 trades to get James Harden on either the Bucks or Heat. dark
