Player who could take some of Thompson’s minutes No. 2) Grant Williams

Next up we find another sophmore big in Grant Williams making the list of players we think could wind up taking some of Tristan Thompson’s vaccant minutes come opening night.

Coming into the year, many are expecting Williams to have an important role himself in the rotation, after proving to be the most effective rookie from last year’s draft class and showing out in the buble last season.

Some of the team’s best minutes inside the bubble, in fact, came while the Tennessee product was found on the floor.

As a whole last year, the Boston Celtics were 21-5 in 26 regular-season outings where Williams played 17 minutes or more, so the idea of getting the forward onto the hardwood should be one of the top priorities for Brad Stevens heading into 2020-21.

However, now with the uncertantity surrounding Thompson, his playing time could likely see an increase even more.

Tabbed as the youngster who will help the Celtics the most during this year’s campaign, it seems like Grant Williams is likely to be one of the main replacements for any big who misses time moving forward.
