Trade for Rudy Gobert to Boston Celtics No. 2) Gobert to Boston, Turner to Utah

Prior to the rumor that broke earlier this week discussing how the Boston Celtics have been “weighing” the idea of trading for the Jazz center, the biggest name speculated to be on the team’s radar via offseason trade was Indiana Pacers big man, Myles Turner.

While many — ourselves included — may believe the 24-year-old center would be a better fit in Beantown, ultimately it comes down to what the front office believes is right.

Should they wish to pursue Rudy Gobert instead of Turner, however, this is not to say that the Pacers can’t also get involved in moving on from their center as well — which has, of course, been a big rumor of late.

In this deal we see the Cs, obviously, landing Gobert. That said, we also see them adding a fine scoring piece to come off the bench in Doug McDermott (via Indiana). On the season, the wing put up solid averages of 10.3 points on 43 percent shooting from deep and shoots a career 41 percent from 3-point range.

Utah finds a quality replacement at the pivot in Turner, who just posted impressive averages of 12.1 points, 6.6 rebounds, 1.2 assists, and a whopping 2.1 blocks per game on 46 percent shooting from the floor and 34 percent shooting from deep, and adds a fine complementary piece off the pine in T.J. Warren who is coming off of a career-best season virtually all across the board (19.8 points, 4.2 rebounds, 1.2 steals on 54 percent shooting from the floor and 40 percent shooting from downtown).

Last, but certainly not least, the Pacers get their “hometown hero” in Hayward to better compliment franchise centerpieces Victor Oladipo and Domantas Sabonis, while also getting themselves into the first round of this year’s NBA Draft with both a lottery selection at 14 and Utah’s 23rd overall pick where they can add even more young and promising talent in an effort to convince their All-Star guard to stay put.
