Second-chance player Boston Celtics could pursue No. 2) Mo Bamba

Mo Bamba being on this list is a bit weird to the Houdini because, frankly, he hasn’t even really gotten his first-chance thus far into his NBA career.

Trapped behind a trio of talented players in the Orlando Magic frontcourt — Nikola Vucevic, Aaron Gordon, and Jonathan Isaac — the sophomore center has only managed to amass an average of 15.1 minutes per game throughout his young profession.

That said, when given ample playing time, Bamba has managed to make the most of his opportunities.

This past season, when bestowed 20-29 minutes of action, the 22-year-old found himself averaging 10 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 2.5 blocks per game on 52 percent shooting from the floor and a whopping 70 percent shooting from deep (just under three attempts per game).

For his career, this feat has happened on just 10 occasions and, with this, has logged an offensive rating of 113 (same as Nikola Jokic in 2019-20) and a defensive rating of 107 (same as Ben Simmons in 2019-20).

With Vucevic, Gordon, and Issac all signed on for the next several seasons, it’s a given that minutes will still be hard to come by for the former sixth overall pick. Perhaps swapping him in exchange for players that could better help round out the rest of this roster might be beneficial for this pleasantly-surprising Orlando team that has not made it to two consecutive postseasons under the guidance of Steve Clifford.

In turn, with the right offer from the Boston Celtics — which is something we’ve proven on multiple occasions is very possible to create — they could theoretically acquire the 7-0 big man who possesses highly-coveted skills for the position of today and could potentially prove to be the answer at the team’s weakest position.

Boston could realistically provide Bamba with his first real chance at making an impact at the professional level.
