Boston Celtics: 3 sharpshooters Cs should pursue this offseason

Though the Boston Celtics may be strapped for cash, they’ll still have the ability to add some sharpshooters utilizing the MLE and veteran’s minimum this offseason.

The 2019-20 season proved to the masses that the Boston Celtics are on the brink of legitimate title contention. After reaching their third Eastern Conference Finals appearance in four years the shamrocks seem to be just a few key additions away from getting over the hump and reaching their first NBA Finals in over a decade.

While the team rostered arguably the best core in the entire league in Kemba Walker, Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, Gordon Hayward, and Marcus Smart, it’s evident that they could still use for some tying up of loose ends.

From their lackadaisical talent pool at the pivot to their porous scoring punch off the pine, Danny Ainge must utilize this offseason as a time period to address some of the C’s weakest areas within the rotation.

Over the past several months we’ve discussed many ways in which the front office can go about bolstering the rotation, from the upcoming NBA Draft to offseason trades. However, despite their lacking of financial flexibility, one of the most popular routes in which the media sees Boston taking in addressing said weak spots this offseason is via free agency, where they are seen as an attractive landing spot for those willing to take the Mid-Level Exception.

As previously alluded to, one of the areas in which the Celtics must try to address this offseason is their offensive play within the second unit, where they ranked 29th points per game (28.5), 28th 3-point efficiency, and 20th offensive rating (53.6) rankings.
