Boston Celtics trade idea No. 2) Jaylen Brown heads to the Los Angeles Clippers

Jaylen Brown is personally one of my favorite players, not just on the Boston Celtics, but in the entire league.

Underrated beyond belief, if he found himself holding the reigns to his own team, rather than being the second or third option like he currently is, I personally believe he could flourish into a superstar.

Because of this, it should be seen as a luxury to have him in green and white and, in turn, should not be looked at as a trade chip moving forward.

That said, no one aside from a select few individuals are “untradeable”, meaning that if the right deal came along it should at the very least be considered.

This deal listed above would constitute some serious consideration.

Being that Kawhi Leonard signed a 3-year deal consisting of a player option in the final season with the Los Angeles Clippers, should he make it know that he’ll likely leave in free agency should they underwhelm once again in the postseason, they could try to exchange him for some substantial returns, and Brown would easily be seen as such.

Buckley’s reasoning behind why the Clippers would consider such a deal reads as follows:

"Brown has made a leap since then and merited All-Star consideration this season. He’s still a weight class or two behind Leonard, but he remains a solid centerpiece in a theoretical Leonard trade. If the Clippers think their formula is flawed—they blew a 3-1 lead in the conference semifinals and could lose Leonard or Paul George to free agency next offseason—this would bring back multiple building blocks, plus a lottery pick."

In turn, the Boston Celtics would finally land Leonard, who was rumored to be interested in joining the team two years ago when he forced his way out of San Antonio before being traded to the Toronto Raptors.

Adding the 2x Finals MVP to a core already consisting of Jayson Tatum, Kemba Walker, and Marcus Smart would be an unbelievable scenario, as it would easily make the shamrocks the favorites to take the Eastern Conference crown by a landslide and, with that, would likely make them overall NBA title favorites, which usually comes with the territory when having Kawhi.

Despite the point of the article being “absurd trade offers”, of all the hypothetical packages involving the Cs, this is probably the most realistic.
