Boston Celtics buy-low target No. 1) Justin Holiday

First up on the docket we have Justin Holiday, a man who might not be the “sexiest” of names found on the open market, but a talent that could certainly benefit the Boston Celtics.

An underrated 3-and-D role player, the seventh-year veteran found himself posting his best career numbers in 2019-20. Through 73 games the shooting guard put forth solid averages of 8.3 points, 3.3 rebounds, 1.3 assists, and 1.2 steals per game on 43 percent shooting from the floor and 41 percent shooting from downtown.

The 6-8 wing possesses a nice combination of offensive and defensive skills that would only help Boston bolster their oh so putrid second-unit. On the year, the C’s bench ranked 29th in the league in points per game (28.5), 28th in 3-point percentage (31.8), and 20th in offensive rating (53.6).

Holiday has the ability to create his own shot while also showing an affinity for shooting off of drive and kick scenarios — the 30-year-old shot 40.1 percent from deep in catch-and-shoot scenarios.

Defensively, adding his length, quickness, and keen sense of staying with his assignment would be a great compliment to a unit already consisting of the All-Defensive First-Team savant in Marcus Smart.
