Bleacher Report gave Jayson Tatum mild praise, ranking the Boston Celtics star as the 8th ranked player on its Playoff ranking.

With the playoffs returning, it’s to be understood that we have to pivot back to Boston Celtics basketball, even if it is damn hard to do so right now. The country is once again divided over the issue of racial violence by law enforcement officers and–to continue the year-long tragedy that is 2020–“Black Panther” star Chadwick Boseman passed away yesterday following a battle with colon cancer.

Basketball is being played, and perhaps it can shine a light on the beautiful life of the man that brought so much hope and happiness to so many young black children…finally represented on the big screen as a larger-than-life Marvel hero.

With the league split between first and second-round matchups, Bleacher Report released its updated Playoff MVP rankings. While the player pool may shrink by the end of the weekend, here’s Greg Swartz’ justification for having Jayson Tatum ranked #8th:

"The 22-year-old is leading the Celtics in scoring, rebounding and blocks while picking up extra ball-handling responsibilities with Gordon Hayward out with an ankle injury. While Tatum’s usage isn’t as high as other stars (tied for 18th overall with Caris LeVert, minimum 30 minutes per game played), his net rating of plus-19.0 ranks fifth overall."

While he hasn’t had the highest usage, he hasn’t had to given the relative dominance he and his teammates showed against the Philadelphia 76ers. Kemba Walker had his time to shine, and Jaylen Brown also stepped up and seized the spotlight throughout the series.

Boston is built to be dominant and hasn’t had to rely on one singular superstar in the same way the Houston Rockets have relied on James Harden and the Dallas have leaned on Luka Doncic.

What do you guys think? Is Tatum ranked too low?
