Despite worries of a full out cancelation, the NBA season is officially back on, which means the Boston Celtics still have a chance to attain banner number 18.

Not just a few hours ago, we found ourselves waking up questioning if we had already seen the last of this 2019-20 Boston Celtics squad.

After going 48-24, and finishing as the Eastern Conference’s third-seed, many believed this team had a legitimate chance of contending for an NBA Championship and, in turn, add banner number 18 into the rafters at TD Garden by season’s end.

We were already forced to say goodbye for an extended period of time once already this season what with the COVID-19 induced hiatus. Should it have happened once again, we would have been left with the hated “what could have been” emotions that tend to follow in unprecedented times.

However, after ongoing talks between NBA players, coaches, the Board of Governors, and so on, the league’s decision-makers have opted to keep the remainder of the season alive and, subsequently, the title-hopes for the Cs.

As for us fans, all we really have to do now is keep our eyes and ears open for any news on when an official resumption might take place.

For the shamrocks, their next outing — whenever that may be — will be against the defending champion Toronto Raptors in a Semifinals game-one bout.

This marks the first time in both team’s history that they will be facing each other during the postseason.

On the year, the Boston Celtics managed to win the season series three games to one. They also hold the lead in their all-time head-to-head record at 57-40.
