Boston Celtics: 2 Orlando Magic players C’s should scout tomorrow
After a statement win Friday against the Toronto Raptors, the Boston Celtics will take on the “host” Orlando Magic in Disney World. Here are two players the Houdini believes the C’s should be watching with eyes towards a potential deal in the offseason.
Sometimes games at the end of the regular season can serve a purpose beyond the diminished importance they have on playoff seeding. Tomorrow’s tilt against the Orlando Magic likely won’t have an effect on where the Boston Celtics end up in the standings. Instead, this game could be a chance for C’s fans to see what potential additions the team could pursue in the offseason.
The Magic match up well as a potential partner in a trade. They have an overloaded frontcourt and bigs unable to get minutes. Meanwhile, the C’s can’t seem to fortify a solid big man rotation beyond Daniel Theis in the lineup.
Robert Williams has been largely absent in the NBA’s restart, while Enes Kanter is borderline unplayable in many matchups. The Blazers’ comeback last Sunday largely happened with Kanter in the game.
While the teams haven’t been involved in any trades together since the C’s sent Glenn Davis to the Magic back in 2011 for Brandon Bass, now could be a good time for the two to get involved once more. The Magic are on a hamster wheel, unable to a breakthrough in a meaningful way while barely making the playoffs the past two years.
The C’s are perhaps just improved roster balance away from being one of the top contenders in the Eastern Conference. With potential synergies being available, here are two targets the Houdini has in mind for a potential deal with the Orlando Magic:
