With ESPN recently coming out with their list of NBA title favorites, we take a trip down memory lane from the regular season and do a light analysis of how the Boston Celtics and their core faired against each squad in the top-5.

Though some may believe that this year’s NBA champion deserves an asterisk next to their name, we here at the Houdini are under the impression that whichever team — hopefully the Boston Celtics — wins the 2020 NBA Finals will have gone through one of the most challenging paths in the sport’s history to attain the Larry O’Brien trophy and, thus, deserve no such symbol.

Instead, they should receive the highest of praise.

Dealing with a global pandemic is no easy feat to accomplish; you oughta know, you’re in the midst of it as well.

Its been a challenge for some to simply go to their local grocery store, imagine how hard it’ll be for NBA players who have been confined to their homes for months on end to get back onto the hardwood and compete at the highest level of their respective sport in the entire world and strive for an NBA title.

With the planned resumption date of July 30th now only two weeks away, teams are already making themselves comfortable in the Disney World bubble down in Orlando, Florida, in preparation for what should be the final three month stretch of the 2019-20 campaign.

Recently, ESPN composed a list of which teams they believe have the best odds to win it all this season and, to no one’s surprise, the Celtics found themselves within the top-5:

Frankly, with the fact that Boston rosters one of the most menacing core-groups in the entire association — Kemba Walker, Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, Gordon Hayward, and Marcus Smart — it’s hard to argue their inclusion within this, and any other list discussing the top-tier teams heading into the bubble.

After all, they didn’t get placed in The Gran Destino Tower for nothing.

Bias aside, we truly believe the Boston Celtics have as good a shot as any to win it all this season, regardless of what power rankings may say. We’ve seen them go up against each one of these teams on multiple occasions this year and, in some instances, have watched them dominate.

Don’t remember? Welp, let’s take you on a quick trip down memory lane for a light refresher of how the shamrocks faired against each one of these formidable foes:
