No. 30 — Jahmi’us Ramsey, G, Texas Tech

Like the Devin Vassell at number 17, selecting Jahmi’us Ramsey has to do with two specific mindsets: select the best player available and bring on assets that can help improve the team’s offensive game in the secondary.

Ramsey should check off both of these boxes.

The one-and-done guard proved to be quite an impressive offensive weapon for Texas Tech in 2019-20, proving capable of buying a bucket in virtually every way imaginable: isolation, catch-and-shoot, at the rim, etc.

Through 27 games, the 18-year-old posted solid averages of 15 points, four rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.3 steals per game on 44 percent shooting from the field and 43 percent shooting from deep (third overall in the Big 12 in this category).

The guard quickly became the team’s number one offensive option and, with his impressive production, took home the 2020 Big 12 Freshman of the Year award.

On the Boston Celtics, he could prove to be a fine addition, serving as a sharpshooting perimeter scorer who could seriously thrive when finding time running alongside guys like Kemba Walker, Marcus Smart and Gordon Hayward who love to play the role of facilitator in drive-and-kick scenarios.

Projected as one of the last remaining players on the board in virtually every mock draft, it’s hard to find a prospect with as much upside and who was as productive in 2019-20 at this stage of the draft as Jahmi’us Ramsey.

For the Boston Celtics, he could prove to be a serviceable asset from day one.
