Jeff Green, PF

First up on our list we have a veteran presence in Jeff Green that would fill two much needed areas on this Boston Celtics roster: perimeter scoring and front court versatility.

Currently a member of the Houston Rockets, Green found new life while playing in the high octane Mike D’Antoni offense. Registering 20 minutes per games with the team, Green was putting up solid averages of 10.4 points, 3.2 rebounds and just under a steal per game on 62 percent shooting from the field and 41 percent shooting from deep.

Green has made a career for himself as an athletic floor-spacing big. Listed at 6-8 with a 7-1 wingspan, the power forward has proven capable of taking on all positions, defensively, from the one all the way down to the five.

His career with the C’s lasted four seasons — one of which was lost due to a heart condition in 2011-12 –, where he averaged 14.6 points and 4.2 rebounds on 34 percent shooting from deep. Interestingly enough, his best two years with the team were when Brad Stevens took the role of Head Coach, where he averaged 17.1 points and 4.5 rebounds on 42 percent shooting from the floor and 33 percent shooting from deep.

At the ripe age of 33 — will be 34 at the start of the next league year — we do not expect Green to boast these same numbers or perform on the court as he did during his final years in Beantown. However, his production this season shows that he can still be productive for his team when given the opportunity.

Being that he’s still producing at a formidable level coupled with his familiarity with Stevens’ system, I’d say the idea of bringing Jeff Green back to Boston isn’t as far fetched an idea as one may think.
