Heading into this year’s draft, the Boston Celtics will hold the rights to three first rounders. Sure, they could use the capitol to bring on some fresh young talent, but what if they opted to trade the assets for already established players?

Though the Boston Celtics’, and the entire NBA season is still in the midst of their COVID-19 induced hiatus, as things currently stand, the league’s future endeavors — free agency, draft, etc. — are still scheduled as originally planned. And, until further notice, this will continue to be the case, which gives the media and fans something to hold out hope for even if the 2019-20 season never winds up coming back to action.

In regard to the 2020 NBA Draft, the Celtics will presumably be one of the busiest teams, as they hold the rights to three first round picks: the Memphis Grizzlies’ at 17, their own at 26, and the Milwaukee Bucks’ at 30. Because of this fact, Boston is expected to come away from this illustrious night with a trio of young ballers to add to their already talented roster.

As for who they may be interested in nabbing on draft night, we’ve already given you potential options for both the Memphis pick as well as their own, with a piece focused on the Milwaukee pick soon to come.

However, this is not the only route the Boston Celtics could go with their ample draft capitol.

Sure, bringing on young assets is an incredibly valuable act for virtually any franchise, but with the amount of youth Beantown currently consists of (average age on team is 24), it is not necessarily a necessity.

This coupled with the fact that this draft is known to be flush with undersized guard prospects (a position Boston is currently set at with Kemba Walker in tow), and significantly weaker at all other spots, the team very well could look to bundling up their draft assets and use them as collateral in a trade to land a player that can help them win, not just in the future, but right now!

If the C’s decided to go down this road — something we seriously suggest they consider — here are two players they should target.
