Kemba Walker is deserving of his starting spot

All season, the talk of the town for Boston Celtics fans has been how different the feel is of this team in comparison to last season. And, while some may want to look towards Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown as the reasons for this change, Kemba Walker‘s presence is without a doubt the biggest contributor in this culture shift and, in turn, play.

In year one, the 29 year old has already shown phenomenal leadership skills along with a controlled attitude and consistently solid play night in and night out — something not found in their former starting point guard. Because of this, guys like Tatum & Brown — two players who struggled mightily last season — have taken huge strides forward, losing their once “fed up” feelings; these factors are just some of the many reasons why Kemba is deserving of his second consecutive starting position at the All-Star game.

Another huge reason, as it often comes down to, is his stellar statistics registered this season. Through 41 games the 4x All-Star is averaging 22.3 points, five assists, four rebounds and a steal per game on 44 percent shooting from the field, 39 percent shooting from deep and a box +/- of 4.5.

All these factors considered, coupled with his team’s grasp on the Eastern Conference’s third seed  (32-15), easily make him the choice for one of the conference’s starting guards.
