The Boston Celtics are at a crossroads in their season
After getting their behinds handed to them in Toronto, the Boston Celtics’ season can go one of two ways, and it’s up to them to figure out which direction they go.
The Boston Celtics have had their issues against teams worse than them. They go into games against squads like the Bulls and sleepwalk their way through the whole thing. Sometimes they win, but they’ve also lost their fair share of those games. We never really worried about that because against the great teams, the Celtics always showed up and let us know their ceiling is higher than anybody.

But Tuesday night, the Toronto Raptors beat the breaks off of Boston. This isn’t something we’ve seen yet, and frankly, here’s the bottom line:
The Celtics have not been fun to watch this year. It’s been exhausting to cover the constant BS that comes with their inconsistency, and right now, they’re at a crossroads in their season. They can either come together and finally play the brand of basketball we all know they can, or they can completely implode and officially define this season as a bust.
With multiple road games against really good teams, there’s no room for this in-the-middle approach we’ve seen all year. Do the Celtics have on the court issues? Absolutely. Are they fixable? You bet, but this team hasn’t proved they’re capable of fixing anything long term. So we’ll have to wait and see.
It doesn’t start and end with one fix. Terry Rozier might be playing some of the grossest basketball I’ve ever seen from him, and he probably deserves to get benched until further notice, but you’d be naive if you think everything that’s wrong with this team is Rozier’s fault. This team just needs full buy-in from everyone involved.
It’s nothing complicated, but it’s easier said than done. The Celtics are at a crossroads. If they are going to turn things around and make a deep run in the playoffs, they’re running out of time to do so, and the consequences of not coming together are far greater than earlier in the season.
