The Maine Red Claws dropped their fourth straight game last night, losing to the Canton Charge on the road 104-95. They are now 8-19 on the season.
Once again, a hot start for the Maine Red Claws fizzled out, as the team lost their energy and their lead to the Canton Charge last night, eventually losing 104-95.
The Red Claws came out swinging, scoring 32 points on 58% shooting in the first frame. The Charge weren’t too far behind, with 26 of their own after one. P.J. Dozier got to work early for the team, with 10 points, 3 assists and 2 boards in the opening quarter. Andrew White III had 11 of his own after sinking three shots from behind the arc.
Things got ugly for Maine in the second quarter, though, as they were unable to hit any threes and couldn’t break 20 points in the period, putting up 18 as they fell behind 54-50 at halftime.

They had a bit of a rebuttal in the third quarter as the team’s offense came back to life, tying the game at 75 a piece before entering the fourth quarter. The final frame had some back and forth action, but the Red Claws were never able to grab the game for themselves.
The Charge took the lead for good with around 4 minutes left, and the Red Claws couldn’t find the basket, falling 104-95. The game was a bit closer than the final score indicated, but it was still a sour-tasting fourth straight loss for Maine.
It wasn’t for a lack of good performances from the Red Claws, though, as Dozier finished with a near-triple-double: 27 points, 9 assists and 7 rebounds. White finished with 19 points and 5 made threes, and Archie Goodwin put up 14 points and 8 boards off of the bench. R.J. Hunter still hasn’t found his scoring stroke, putting up 8 points on 3-10 shooting, but he did get involved in other ways, grabbing 6 boards, dropping 3 dimes and nabbing 3 steals.
The loss brings the Maine Red Claws to 8-19 on the season, lurking around the bottom of the Eastern Conference. Their next opportunity to snap the losing streak comes Thursday as they travel to Michigan to take on the Grand Rapids Drive.
Tip-off from the DeltaPlex arena will be at 7 p.m. The game will be broadcasted on Facebook Live.
