The Maine Red Claws fell to the Capital City Go-Go 118-107 last night. They are now 8-18 on the season.
The Maine Red Claws put up a valiant fight on the road against the Capital City Go-Go on Friday night, but ultimately couldn’t withstand their offensive firepower, losing 118-107.
Initially, things looked positive for the Red Claws, as the team put together a solid first quarter, leading 31-20 after one frame. The Go-Go, who are currently third in the East, wouldn’t be down for long, though, cutting the deficit to two points by halftime.
Go-Go and Washington Wizards two-way star Jordan McRae led the charge, scoring 16 points in the second quarter and 26 in the first half. McRae has been one of the greatest G-League players of the last few years, and the Red Claws didn’t know how to stop him.

The trend would continue into the second half, as McRae and the Go-Go continued to dominate. Capital City led by 6 at the end of three, and the Red Claws couldn’t put up a rebuttal in the fourth. They lost by 11 points, a full 22-point swing in the last three quarters of action.
PJ Dozier led the show for the Red Claws, scoring 26 points and fetching 7 rebounds. Justin Bibbs and Andrew White III put up 22 and 21 points, respectively. RJ Hunter struggled to score in his second game back with the Celtics organization, putting up 6 points on 2-10 shooting, though the guard did grab 8 boards.
McRae was the star of the night, though, as his second half was just as menacing as his first. He finished with a stunning 54 points on 18-31 shooting, as well as 9 rebounds. His scoring figure marks a season-high for the entire G-League, and is the highest scoring night the league has seen since Trey Davis put up 57 for the Red Claws last March.
The loss takes the Maine Red Claws to 8-18, only ahead of the Wisconsin Herd in the Eastern Conference standings. Like their affiliates in Boston last week, Maine has now dropped three games straight.
They’ll have an opportunity to flip that switch tonight, though, as they travel to Canton to take on the Charge (10-15) at 7 p.m. The game will be aired on Facebook Live.
