Boston Celtics show confidence in Semi Ojeleye by fully guaranteeing his contract
No one every really thought it was ever in jeopardy, but Semi Ojeleye‘s contract is now fully guaranteed with the Boston Celtics. The deadline has passed, and that is enough to know that he is currently a part of the plans for this team.
Who knows what kind of minutes he will get, and the contract is quite small so there is no risk involved here. At the very least, he will get his opportunities, and he can be a vital defender on a team that needs as much versatility in their front court as possible.
Ojeleye’s performance against the Bucks in the playoffs really changed how he was perceived. Guerschon Yabusele will always be the fan favorite, but Ojeleye has done more and could be in line for a decent front court role off the bench.

Ojeleye has proven that he can defend at an NBA level, and that has always been enough to get minutes from Brad Stevens. He may only be a specialist for particular situations, but the Celtics are confident that their money will be spent well on Ojeleye.
The Celtics have a front court that is still unsettled, and the future is also in question. Ojeleye is one of the options that has the opportunity to prove that he can be a part of the future of the team.
Ojeleye has a lot of work to do, but now he has some security, and can settle into what has to be a special season from him. There is too much competition on this Celtics roster to expect a guaranteed contract to mean minutes.
Ojeleye will still have to earn everything, and getting the opportunity to do that is all he can ask for at this point in his career. He is still young and quite raw. He has a lot of room to improve, but he needs the time.

The Celtics cannot afford to give these younger players too much time. Fortunately, Ojeleye is on the right track and the way he has seized opportunity in the past is a great indication that this will not be the last guaranteed contract Ojeleye gets from the Celtics
