Players are making it clear that the Boston Celtics are a top destination in the NBA

The Boston Celtics have gone through a masterful rebuild, and everyone has been able to see the results they are getting. They function as effectively as any franchise, have a coach that everyone wants to play for and a collection of players that are dedicated to reaching the same ultimate goal.

After the Celtics signed Gordon Hayward, you could tell that top players would want to come to Boston. This offseason, however, it has been a completely different world. You cannot mention a player’s name without connecting them to the Celtics, and the players themselves are backing it up.

Most recently, Paul George mentioned the Celtics are the kind of place he could see himself playing. Right now, you know that joining the Celtics means contending for a championship, with a window that could last a long time.

More from Hardwood Houdini

The problem, however, is that the Celtics are quite set. They have already brought in all the talent they need, and now the rest of the league is thinking about jumping in when things are getting really good.

The Celtics are clearly a destination where players want to come, but they do not need to be thinking about getting any more of that talent. The Celtics are already thinking about the luxury tax, and there is no reason for them to swap out the talent they already have.

Any player that is interested in winning will be interested in the Celtics, and it is no surprise that all these significant players are being connected to them in one way or another.

Paul George would be a special kind of player to have on the Celtics but it really did not sound like it was a serious possibility that he would come to Boston. What he reveals, however, is that he believes in Boston’s ability to contend.

The Celtics have set themselves up in a special way, and thinking about all the other players that might want to join them could end up doing damage. All the Celtics have to focus on are the current Celtics, and making sure that this current core is going to continue to make any top free agent out there jealous that they were too late to join something so special.
