Jaylen Brown is showing why he is ready to be the face of the Boston Celtics franchise

Jaylen Brown just gave the most important performance of his career, becoming the youngest player to break 30 points in the playoffs, a Boston Celtics record that went all the way back Tommy Heinsohn in 1957. Brown is embracing his bigger role in these playoffs, and is showing everyone that he is already one of the best two way players in the league.

Brown has become as trusted as anyone when it comes to three point shooting, and has the strength and athleticism to be the best player on the team in finishing through contact. He single handedly destroys teams in transition, by generating opportunities with steals, and finishing them with the kind of excitement that maybe no one else on this team can duplicate.

Right now, Brown is the most exciting player on the Celtics, and he is embracing everything that makes him and the Celtics great. Brown has been taking on the toughest defensive assignments in Marcus Smart‘s absence, and is now taking on the most offensive responsibility with Kyrie Irving out.

He is just in his second year, but it feels like he has gone through multiple transitions as he has grown as a player. He was one of the most improved players in the league in the regular season, and he has been the most improved player from the regular season to these playoffs.

More from Hardwood Houdini

Brown has been given the freedom and responsibility to take on as much volume as possible, and dictate as much offense as anyone as a scorer. He has taken this new role and is making it clear that he is going to be one of the best players on this team for a generation, and he is on his way to being embraced as the true face of the franchise.

The problem is that there is some exception competition for Brown. Irving is the transcendent super star, Gordon Hayward could be the best all around player, and Jayson Tatum might have the most potential of the bunch.

Keep in mind, however, best player will not necessarily dictate the true face of the franchise, because there is going to be so much talent on this team, and it will be too difficult to identify one player as the clear cut best.

Brown, however, can get another edge over all these players, while also having a chance to bring that similar level of talent. Brown is only in his second year, but he has been on the team longer than any of those option options, and Brown will have been embraced more than any other after these playoffs.

The way Brown steps up in the playoffs and in the clutch will make him absolutely beloved by all of Boston, and it would not be difficult for them to embrace him as the face of this franchise. His two way impact will make sure he is as important on the court as anyone else, and he has a personality that might separate him from the rest.

He is also one of the most physically exciting players in the league. No one on the Celtics has more exciting and electric finishes than him, and he is not going to be short of signature moments when he enters his prime with this team.

Brown has also carried himself with the kind of confidence and maintained the kind of work ethic that you want to see out of every single player on your team. Brown has that physical edge on the court, but his personality also gives him another edge in being embraced by the Celtics.

He has continually shown a remarkable level of confidence, and little tid bits like calling out the dunk contest for not being good enough competition for him, gives him the kind of edge that fans will always want to embrace.

The Celtics are at a point where they believe in the talent they have, and having all of it come together in a special way shows what a job they have done in this rebuild. It is too difficult to tell exactly who is going to be the most talented and impactful player for this generation of the Celtics, but Brown is playing like a person that is ready to be the face of this franchise, and he everyone is ready to embrace what he mean to this franchise.
