Video has been released of Gordon Hayward jogging on the court

Any time there is any update on Gordon Hayward, Boston Celtics fans use it as ammunition to try and figure out some sort of situation where he can return this year. The most recent update is that Hayward is on the court jogging, but that changes absolutely nothing about his potential outlook this season.

Even if there is a hypothetical scenario where Hayward will be cleared to play before the playoffs, he is not gong to be returning. There is too much that has to go into getting him game ready, and the Celtics are not going to risk anything.

More from Hardwood Houdini

With all these other injuries piling up now, it should be further reinforced that Hayward should not be returning for the Celtics this season, and some light jogging that is no where near 100 percent should not be adding any unnecessary optimism.

It is great to see Hayward progressing properly and getting back into game shape. What you nee to keep in mind, however, is that this is progress for next season, and that should be even more exciting than progress for this season, where the Celtics may never get their full team on the court again.

The Celtics cannot wait to actually see Hayward on the court, so just the beginning of running is a great sign and will make some people excited. Right now, however, the active players are bringing enough excitement, and this should not be a distraction of any kind.

The timing, however, might be creating even more intrigue. We are starting to see some of the true potential of the young talent on this team, and they are all going to be even better next year.

Right now, Celtics fans know they can get excited about what this team is going to look like with Hayward and Kyrie Irving playing together, but it is that much more exciting to think about what the two of them are going to be able to do with Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum for a lot longer than just these playoffs.
