The Boston Celtics finally have a time table for Kyrie Irving’s return

The Boston Celtics are finally getting some clarity on the injury front, and they have officially announced that Kyrie Irving is going to be out three to six weeks. Given where the Celtics are in the standings, there really is no reason to be worried about this, and the Celtics should just be happy that he is going to return.

That lingering fear that Irving might be shut down should be gone for now, and Irving should be able to come back at 100 percent and lead the Celtics on a playoff run.

The most frustrating part of Irving’s injury has been the uncertainty. He has been dealing with knee soreness all season long, and this is the first time we have been given anything concrete.

More from Hardwood Houdini

The best side is that this means Irving should be in his best shape of the season once he returns. This is an issue that can be linked all the way back to his Cavaliers days, and it has gone in and out of causing problems for Irving.

The thought at this point is that once Irving returns, he will no longer have to worry about this soreness causing more problems. It was a minor procedure, and there is no telling if it will really fix the problem long term.

What we do know, however, is that the Celtics would not risk anything in bringing Irving back, and if he is back in the lineup it is because he is both comfortable with his ability to perform, and the Celtics do not see any potential risk in the future.

The Celtics have been winning games, so it has been easy to deal with Irving being sidelined. As long as they are playing like this, the injury could be beneficial to these secondary players getting an advantage.

The Celtics should be able to stay competitive the whole time, but there is no player they will miss more than Irving, and it will only be a matter of time before his absence is felt in a terribly way on offense. Fortunately, that should not be happening when it matters the most down the line, and Celtics fans can look forward to an eventual return.
