Isaiah Thomas did a great job of getting the attention of Boston Celtics fans

The Isaiah Thomas saga has been one of the craziest parts of this season, and he continues to draw in the attention of all Boston Celtics fans. The journey he has gone through to end up on the Lakers has been one of the wildest sagas we have ever seen, and now Celtics fans are thinking there is a possibility that is could bring him back to Boston.

Thomas decided to do a Q&A on Twitter last night. Naturally, someone asked him about returning to the Celtics this summer, and he responded with “Anything is possible”. Given all the circumstances, there really is absolutely nothing to take from this.

He is ambiguous, making sure everyone is happy and leaving it as open ended as possible. If the Celtics decided they wanted to throw a massive contract at Thomas, obviously he would say yes.

More from Hardwood Houdini

If you are wondering if there is some theoretical situation where Thomas would reunite with Boston, it definitely is possible. What we do know, however, is that the Celtics are not going to offer him the contract he wants, and he would have to come off the bench. On top of that, you need to think about that happens to Marcus Smart and Terry Rozier, it is even more difficult.

The one thing you can take from this is that Thomas really does not have bad blood for the Celtics. His relationship with Danny Ainge may never be the same, but he clearly still has a soft spot for Boston and probably realizes how good the place was for him.

It would be easy for Thomas to say he would not return to Boston, if he landed in a half decent position. Things could have have gone worse with the Cavaliers, and now he is a long shot for the playoffs with the Lakers.

Thomas was in a better position with the Celtics, and he was able to play better. He will not find another coach that brings out his best the way Brad Stevens did, and there is no doubt that he could be incredibly valuable as a scorer coming off the bench.

That being said, this could just be Thomas showing respect for the franchise and acknowledging that he is not holding any big grudges. The reality is that  there are way too many things in the way of bringing Thomas back to Boston, and there is no reason to have any real hope that he will return.
